Down the Rabbit Hole A wonderfully individual concept, built around a curved oval and complemented by a remarkably diverse and skilfully arranged selection of plants. The plant choices and their placement are somewhat unconventional, but I find the result thoroughly appealing. The composition creates some beautiful contrasts, and the colours, textures, and forms work together in a particularly engaging way. This was a work that caught my attention from the very beginning. The original idea, the competent execution, and the distinctive colour palette all appealed to me. Yet, throughout the judging process, I kept returning to the feeling that this layout was somehow difficult to grasp and describe. There was something almost cute about it, although I struggled to understand exactly why. Eventually, I began to wonder whether the main element, the oval that comes close to touching almost all of the focal points, might simply be a little too small in relation to the overall composition. I may well be mistaken, of course, but I experimented with the idea of enlarging it by roughly 60%, and somehow the composition felt more cohesive to me. Another possibility might have been to introduce one or more smaller ovals, although I suspect that this would have taken the design too far away from its original concept. In any case, I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with this aquascape. Even though I could never quite shake the feeling that something was missing, or perhaps that the central element was simply a little too small, I was able to appreciate and enjoy this distinctive work for what it is. A lovely piece of work. Please keep exploring your ideas!
