The concept for the aquarium was inspired by the sight of a natural riverbed. The backbone of the layout is a monumental wood composition—comprising an intricate arrangement of some 30 to 50 pieces—whose striking lines and natural curves create a profound sense of depth. Although the large volume of wood posed a significant challenge in maintaining biological balance and keeping algae at bay, the condition of the plants demonstrates that a wild, natural aesthetic and long-term stability can go hand in hand.
