A Pond Full of Water Lilies I have always been easily captivated by water lilies floating on the surface. They invariably evoke a sense of romance and tranquillity in me. And this aquascape is no exception. At first glance, the layout reveals a striking three-part structure, arranged from bottom to top. The foreground features Moenkhausia, sand, and young lotus plants. The middle section is dominated by a great deal of driftwood, spreading outwards in a fan-like pattern towards the front and both sides. Above it all lies a layer of Valisneria and the water lilies mentioned in the title. Clear structures and a certain sense of order make a composition accessible to the viewer. I have no reservations about the foreground: everything feels harmonious, the planting is coherent, and even the fish seem willing to cooperate. The middle section is more difficult to assess. The driftwood is packed so tightly that its contours begin to merge in places. The pieces extending towards the front are beautifully positioned, but their counterparts on either side diminish their impact. I believe a different distribution of visual weight, less driftwood, and a more dynamic arrangement could have conveyed more both visually and emotionally.I would also have welcomed an opening between the wood that lowered the apparent horizon to the level of the lower focal points. This would have given the floating leaves more room to unfold their magical appeal. As for the background planting, I suspect it has not yet reached its full potential. Perhaps the layout simply needed a little more time to allow the plants to fill out the background and the water surface. Although this work does not quite fulfil its full potential, I enjoyed it very much. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful contribution!
