#1282 Floating Island
About This Aquascape
This riparium is scaped inside a DOOA Neo Glass Air, and the title of the piece is "Floating Island." Multiple pieces of driftwood were bonded together to create a structure that can be securely mounted on the tank. It utilizes the natural capillary action of the driftwood itself along with Hygrolon to wick water upward, effectively supplying moisture to the soil. The layout features various emersed plants and several species of ferns, and it is currently maintained with a 50% water change once a week.

Judges' Comments
This is a nice set up. The angle of the wood and flow of the plants is good. I would have not shown blunt ends of the wood, however, and tried to taper the edges so they look more natural. Also I don't think all the wood is the same type, which makes it distracting and you send up looking at the wood instead of the angles and composition. I would have also removed the light for the final photo (just don't show the actual fixture but still illuminate the arrangement).
