About This Aquascape

A small ecosystem suspended between two worlds. The submerged landscape and the terrestrial growth above the water are connected through a single piece of wood, allowing both environments to coexist within the same composition. Instead of creating a strict boundary between land and water, I wanted to emphasize the transition between them where moss, aquatic plants and emergent growth gradually become one living landscape. A meeting point between water and land, captured in a single ecosystem.

A striking composition that demonstrates how simplicity in hardscape can create a powerful visual impression. The bold forms and substantial visual weight of the hardscape are beautifully balanced by the delicate, slender flowers of the Hydrocotyle sp., creating a wonderful contrast in both texture and scale. This gives the composition a distinctive character while allowing both the hardscape and planting to complement one another without competing for attention.

Quite healthy and varied plants make the riparium interesting to view. Varying leaf sizes and textures add to the interesting nature of the display. Offsetting the wood, making it less symmetrical and "boat-like" would have helped the artistry of the arrangement. Also "less is more" would have applied here as the vast amount of plants, especially all the buce underwater, was a little overwhelming.
