Beautiful aquarium with beautiful, healthy plants, but very overgrown. As a result, little of the background vegetation is visible and the depth effect is also negated. 10. Nymphaea micrantha, which shades the plant behind it, and 11. Hygrophila sp. (dagger), which almost completely hides it. No fish at the surface.
In my Top 3. I love what this tank aims for, but the oversized plants and congested growth reduce the contrast between groups and the feeling of depth. The spacing between groups, which might have been there on trim day, has all but vanished. I love the unusual plants - espcially never-before-used Persicaria from North Carolina, but it's too tall for being foreground and central. They all look healthy, almost too healthy, like they might have doubled in size overnight from turbo-charged fertilizing. Practicing Dutch style with EI is chasing your tail. The Hygrophila behind the Nymphaea would have been better with a more moderately sized variety like 53B. The ends of the tank lack definition. Lighting seems too warm. It's a joy to see white sand instead of aqua soil!
