About This Aquascape

Judges' Comments

The aquascape is wild with a nice growth in the terrestrial portion. Unfortunately, the display could use some significant maintenance and replanting to create some structure and focus.

This is wonderful display that feels biotopic in impression, especially below the surface. With a wide variety of emergent species, a natural sense of density is present, though some damaged stems do contrast against the otherwise healthy growth. The hardscape elements, while minimal, feel underconsidered when judging the layout compositionally. Relaying so heavily on planted elements causes the layout to feel visually flat. The submerged portion, with algae and heavy detritus present, gives a highly naturalistic impression, though feels more successful as a biotopic entry. Overall, this is a fantastic layout, embodying a great sense of naturalism.

Little wild on this one and can't really see the wood. Also the water does not look very clean.
