Hydrocotyle tripartita mini, Lobelia cardinalis, Vesicularia dubyana, Ludwigia brevipes
cordoba, cordoba, Argentina
Very lush growth of the plants on the Wabi Kusa. I liked the touch of having the Lobelia grow to the top and out of the vessel. Although the Ludwigia is on the Wabi Kusa ball, unfortunately it is not easily visible in the final display. A good cleaning of the gravel prior to taking photos is advisable.
This wabi kusa is a great example of utilizing a vessel to ones advantage. This wabi kusa is all about height! Hardscape elements help to further emphasize this point through a strong vertical disposition, leading the eye upwards and out of the container, following the stem plants as they emerge. The husbandry of this wabi kusa can be improved to further emphasize the impact of this clever display. One may note the presence of dead leaves, particularly around the lower portions of stems. This is indicative of leaves that were lost during the stem's transition period. Ideally, this stem should be trimmed and replanted with new, healthy growth. Species like Hydrocotyle sp. grow wild and can be difficult to contain within narrow vessels, so regularly trimming can keep them dense. This also helps to remove yellowing leaves that can be unsightly. Overall, this is beautiful wabi kusa with excellent potential to mature into something extraordinary.
Like the vertical arrangement of wood and plants to complement the tall vase. However the two wood pieces should be different lengths and mid-height plants would have filled the container better.
