"The North Fork" Catawba River inspired mnature aquarium. 20 gallon long, no C02, mostly native plants. started this tank using only plants found in the Catawba River. There was a spot near Linville Falls that had red and purple plants everywhere. It had been untouched for 10+ years. It was full of Greenhead Shiners, Tessellated Darters, and Mountain Dace. After hurricane Helene this section of the North Fork was destroyed. The creeks were flattened and widened, the trees were ripped apart, and the flora and fauna were devastated. Luckily nature is resilient. From what I've seen this section has started to regenerate and the plants and fish are increasing in numbers.
