Alternantera reinecky, Lobelia Cardinalis, Samulus Valerandi, Hidrocotyle Tripartita Mini, Musgo de Java, Flotante Lemma Minor
Córdoba, Córdoba, Argentina
Nicely done display with good use of color and contrasting leaf textures. The use of the Alternanthera as the focal plant in the display works for this Wabi Kusa and the Lobelia providing a contrasting color against the Alternanthera is a good mix. A few things that should be addressed are the blunt ends of the driftwood. Also the Samolus (now Lysimachia) does not appear to be in the best health and could use a bit of fertilization. Although the Hydrocotyl provides a nice contrast in texture to the other plants, it could use a trim and replanting to improve the placement in the Wabi Kusa. Well done!
This is beautiful wabi kusa, presenting a simply graceful gesture and pleasant planting. Alternathera sp. is the star of the show, appearing to be growing in great health with no humidity damage. The hardscape elements do not distract, but rather give the wabi kusa a sense of place. The placement of Hydrocotyle sp. 'Japan' must be addressed; however. It is not to the benefit of this layout to stage stems across branches, whilst recently placed bundles of the species reside in the corners of the vessel without having the opportunity to establish themselves. These elements are unnecessary and antithetical to the concept of wabi kusa. Otherwise, this is a wonderful display - and often less is more!
I like the use of wood in the arrangement, and the touch of having the hydrocotyl vine up the wood. Nice choice of colors and textures in the plants. Improvements include elimination of the blunt ends on the wood, and the main plants could be a tad more off center. Otherwise great arrangement. Floaters is also a nice touch.
