Although the plants are obviously healthy, the plants chosen for the terrestrial portion of the tank overpowers the display. For the submersed portion, the Anubias and Bolbitus are too large for such a small tank. Finally, this is not what I would define as a riparium and is more of a paludarium.
The vertical impression of this layout is very impactful and evident, creating an enjoyable dynamic of height as the foliage travels beyond the container. The emergent planting, however, is visually ungrounded and does not feel integrated into the emergent hardscape elements. These oversized elements overshadow the submerged portion, making it difficult to fully appreciate the composition below the surface. There is a clear indication of effort below the surface, though, it is difficult to fully understand or appreciate it. With considerate trimming, this composition would provide a stronger impression.
